Increase in Admissions in Animal Rescue League (Annotated Article #1)
"Animal Rescue League faces 148% increase in admissions"
Samantha Arroyo argues that the shelter has seen over 100% increase in admissions and an increase in animals taken in through cruetly/neglect cases. She also claims that even with the increase in adoption, they cannot ignore the debt they are consuming in their medical budget. Even though they are doing their best to help the animals that are coming in, their budget for medical and veternarian bills are through the roof. Arroyo develops this claim by first illustrating the overspending by investing why and how much they are overspending. Arroyo explains what causes the increase in both admissions and overspending. Lastly, she states that the animal abuse is also caused because owners are trying to relieve stress. Samantha Arroyo's purpose is to inform us of the trouble they are experiencing with the increase of everything that has been going on with shelter admissions and their debt due to medical bills in order to keep us aware and let us know how we can help. This work is significant because it supports my statement that animals abuse has increased. It not only supports that, but it gives information, facts, and statistics to back it up. Also, it gives side information about some of the causes of the abuse, what effects the increase has on the shelter, and what we can do to help.
